The Symbols Didn't Change. The World Did.
The Vegvisir and the Helm of Awe were carved into Icelandic grimoires in the 17th century. The symbols themselves are older — distillations of the Norse runic tradition stretching back through the Viking age into the Iron Age. They have been carried on bodies, scratched into wood, and pressed into metal for a thousand years. They have not changed because what they address has not changed: the need to find direction when the way is unclear, and the need to hold your ground when what stands against you is overwhelming.
What has changed is the world around them. Vikings of the Third Millennium is a collection built on that fact. Not historical replicas. Not archaeological reconstructions. Thirteen handcrafted pieces in 925 sterling silver — some set with cubic zirconia — in which the two most psychologically direct symbols of the Norse world are given a contemporary design language: the crescent, the arc, the twin disc, the clean circular face.
The Two Symbols This Collection Is Built Around
Vegvisir — the Norse Compass is recorded in the 17th-century Huld Manuscript: "If this sign is carried, one will never lose one's way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known." It was a symbol for those who set out without certainty — the seafarers crossing the open Atlantic, the wanderers moving through unfamiliar terrain. In the third millennium, it addresses the same condition: the psychological experience of moving through a world in which the path has to be found rather than followed.
Ægishjálmr — the Helm of Awe appears in the Poetic Edda and the Icelandic sagas. Fáfnir the dragon said of it: "I wore the Helm of Awe before all creatures... No one dared to approach me, and I feared no one." Warriors pressed the symbol between their brows before battle — not a symbol of strength alone, but of the psychological capacity to project such presence that the enemy's will breaks before the conflict begins. The inner force that keeps you operational under maximum pressure.
What You'll Find in This Collection

What is the Vikings of the Third Millennium collection?
A 13-piece handcrafted sterling silver collection built around the Vegvisir (Norse Compass) and Ægishjálmr (Helm of Awe), rendered in a contemporary design language of crescents, rune arcs and twin disc forms. Not historical replicas — ancient symbols in a present-tense form, from $92.
What is the difference between Vegvisir and Ægishjálmr?
Vegvisir is the Norse wayfinding stave — you will find your way even when the path is unknown. Ægishjálmr is the protective and dominating stave — psychological and physical force over opponents and obstacles. Both come from the Icelandic grimoire tradition. Several pieces in this collection carry both symbols simultaneously.
Are the cubic zirconia stones meaningful or purely decorative?
The stone choices align with the symbolism. Green CZ references the northern Norse landscape — forest, moss, the living world from which Norse spiritual tradition grew. Brown CZ grounds the piece in earth and endurance. The stones are set structurally into the silver, not applied to the surface.
